Why You Should Make a Video Response in Mandarin!

新年快樂! Xin Nian Kuai Le! :)

Thank you all your continuous support to PeggyTeachesChinese in the past year. I really appreciate it!

In the new of 2010, I hope our lessons will continue to inspire you and even more people to learn Mandarin. Not only do I wish this community for learning Mandarin would continue to grow by making these lessons but also look forward to the share of experiences and knowledge contributed by more learners. "I don't want other people to know how bad my Mandarin is" you might think. But please let me remind you that making mistakes is also a part of learning. Moreover, as a language learner, you don't want to be all shy and too self-conscious. Take myself as an example, English has never been my native language but I wasn't afraid to speak English since I first started to learn; that is why my English is better than people who began to learn it at the same time with me, even those who have been to an English speaking country to learn the language. I am now learning Japanese and I apply the same technique, same attitude.

Did I Say it Right? - Ask Me Any Questions about Mandarin

Many thanks to Marty from Australia, AntarticSake from U.S., Chris from Germany and Kenton from St. Vincent for uploading a video to get featured on "Did I Say it Right?" A video like the ones these viewers uploaded is absolutely beneficial for all Mandarin learners, as the questions you encounter while learning Mandarin could probably be other learners' as well. (So no need to feel shy and embarrassed, it's a community built for us all.) "Did I Say it Right?" encourages Mandarin learners of all level to come and brainstorm together.

Ep. 1: "I woke up early" from Marty, Australia

Ep. 2: "My friend is beautiful" from AntarticSake, U.S.

Ep. 3: "Four, Ten and Dead in Chinese" from Chris, Germany

Ep. 4: "Shi4he2 V.S. He2shi4" from Kenton, St. Vincent

How to Check in a Hotel in Chinese

This is a follow-up lesson of "How to Make a Hotel Reservation". It covers the two circumstances one could encounter: a Room or a Full House

Many words in this lesson are taught in previous lessons. It'd be easier for students to keep up with the pace if one is familiar with last week's lesson on Hotel Reservation.
